HP Pavilion dv6000 Series & RAM

I've got a HP Pavilion from the dv6000 series with the exact model being dv6614tx and I want to upgrade the memory. Now the problem is that HP say it can take upto 4gb but the likes of Crucial say it can only take 2gb so I'm a little confused. I actually spoke to the people at Crucial and they were quite adamant they were right even when I told them what the HP site said.

So on to my questions. Does anyone know for sure how much it can take? I dont want to go out and buy 4gb only to find its useless. Secondly since its a 32bit machine I realise it'll only be able to recognise somewhere between 3gb and 3.5gb so would there be any benefit to getting the 2x2gb matched pairs rather than just swapping one of my existing 1gb with a 2gb?

    thanks.
