Project that will have a software and emphasize Networking Concept

I am supposed to come up with a project for my final year. I have done Java and C#. I have also done an introduction to c++. I have also done Oracle SQL. I need help in a project that will have a networking concept on it as i am specialising in networks.

I was thinking about making an app that would scan your hardware & drivers then go online and download the latest version of said drivers to your comp and update.

Something like that?

Its called windows update. You want something unique somthing like: TeamBase I call it that. Basically its a program that connect to the internet, which then connects people with the same program together. You can chat and file share I have plenty of ideas but I lack the skills atm.

Yeah, but something good, useful and open-source, therefore not limited to windows users. Also, it actually finding most up-to-date drivers would be handy too. But something like that would be a pretty massive undertaking. I'd advise against it...

You mean like MSN, ICQ, Pidgin, IRC, Usenet etc. etc. etc.

There is little innovation left in software engineering, especially in terms of college projects. Do something well and you have won half the battle.

Personally, I was thinking about doing a distribution system for software. Like steam. PC gaming is faltering these days as a result of piracy, Steam et al. are a giant step towards taking back the format for legitimate gamers.

If you do it very well, you could probably pick your job

Wow software development seem to be getting tougher and tougher to innovate in but if you do somthing well you could win the jackpot. Open source is the way to go though.

My best mate used to work in Xtra Vision and the system they had was horrible dated. could do something nice and useful for something like that company?
