Natural midges deterrant

Is there a natural deterrant for midges?
I'm looking for a tree/shrub/plant which I might grow to help detter midges, does such a plant exist?
The house is out the country and is has quiet a few decideuous trees in the garden, something is attracting alot of midges, is there anything I can do, it's probably alot to do with the humid weather we're having too.

lemon balm,
chamomile,
lavender,
peppermint,
tansey,
basil, and oregano.

If I planted a few of these native plants around the borders of the garden would it do the job?

Bog Myrtle is a plant that acts as midge repellant. Don't know if the plant works when it's growing but it might be worth having anyway. See:
