I bought a bag on ebay few weeks ago, tries to pay through paypal but couldn't for some reason so i asked buyer could i pay by cheque and he said that was grand. Sent forward cheque with a surplus of about a tenner of actual cost, go t message off seller saying cheque was received but he wasn't going sending the bag because he was getting charged to cash the cheque so he gave me a strike...i'm not really sure what to do now

Report him to eBay. Where was seller based? What feedback rating does he have? I never buy from anybody with less than a 99% positive feedback rating and with plenty of transactions behind them. What sort of cheque did you send i.e was in Euros or sterling? More information and I might be able to help a bit more. :)

Charged to cash the cheque. That's the sellers problem. He should've made you aware of any crap like that before the purchase.

    Report him as mentioned above.

he's a rating of 98%, cheque was in euros, he's located in the u.k. I didn't realise you'd get charged for cashing a cheque, oopsie
Would it be best to forward on another cheque now to pay for the charge, the bag is for me old mammy, she's a wedding coming up and after spending months searching for a bag to match i find this one and it's perfect so i would like to get it

Major boob there. Euro cheques are about as welcome as a turd in a swimming pool in the UK but there is still no reason for him to be unreasonable. Ask for your cheque to be returned and if you still want to proceed get him a sterling bank draft (available at banks, building societies and even credit unions) but wait until you get your Euro cheque back. Remember under new eBay rules he can't leave you as a buyer any negative feedback so it is in his interest to see a satisfactory outcome too.

Be patient as it is too easy to lose it with email and regret what you have said when it's too late. I have had about 1,200 eBay transactions and out of those only two difficult ones so you will get over this one.

The moral in this story is quite simple - never ever send Euro cheques out side the State - even to other Euro zone countries where they can also cause problems. :):)
