Can't locate my emails on old hard drive to transfer to new pc

Hello. Can anyone give me advice? I recently got a new pc with windows vista. My old pc went caput and wouldn't even turn on so I couldn't access anything until my hubby put the old hard drive into new pc. I tried using the windows easy transfer to transfer emails to new pc but came across difficulties. It told me to run migwiz from old hard drive which I attempted but this had issues which it didn't identify.

I have tried to locate the emails, of which there are many, but to no avail. Maybe if I knew exactly what I was looking for I might have more luck. I'm having difficulty working with the new "windows explorer" or whatever it is called now. Doesn't make it easy to see where files are stored.

Is it possible that during the process of trying to import the emails to new pc and the fact that it came up with errors that they are gone into the world of lost emails!!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Natacha

You'll need to give us an idea what e-mail application you were using. If it was Outlook try scanning for *.pst file or files.

Hey Yerac. It was outlook or outlook express (can't remember which, sorry, I'm pathetic). just did a search there now for .pst and it has found loads but just looking at them, they don't all have .pst at the end, e.g. .inx, .tsp. How will I know which ones they are?

Oh, just found all my bookmarks from explorere and mozilla from last pc!

Depending on the version of outlook express, the mailbox could also be in .dbx format.

Looks like its outlook express. Was 2005 when we got it. Just looked under program files on the old hard drive. I've managed to import my email up to 2005 which were on my previous pc again (??) whcih I didn't even know I still had but no joy with email up till recently. So frustrating.
