Hey guys, just looking for some feedback on either ballyliffin golf club or north west gc both near buncrana Donegal. I'm hoping to play one of these when I head up for a weekend in september.

Has anyone got any recommendations or views. Anything at all would be much appreciated. By the looks of the websites, Ballyliffin looks the business, but good marketting may not necessarily mean much.

    Cheers.

    Ballyliffen is the business.

Ballyliffen is one of the finest places I've ever had the pleasure to play. Bring good weather gear and some warm clothes, if the weather is to be rough. If you are lucky and get some nice weather, the place is just beautifull.

I second Ballyliffin, hell of a course and well worth playing if you can get out!

Ballyliffen has two great courses. The old course is the hardest since the Faldo improvements last year. Great club house/staff.

Don't bother with NorthWest and just play the two courses in Ballyliffin. Both courses are way better than NW. Have to disagree with a previous poster saying the old course is harder. You've obviously only played glashedy off the forward tees. The back tees on a lot of the holes are and extra 50-70 yards further back and it's a very different course from back there. The old course is more tricky than anything.

my thunder stolen by other posters - Ballyliffen is the biznitch. I preferred Glashedy to the old course - but I'm not a purist.

In the effort of not starting a new thread I’ll merge this into this older one.
I’m hopefully playing Ballyliffin shortly and would like a little info on both of the courses,

I take it there’s two courses, if people had the opportunity to play one which one would it be??

    And

Do you have any tips for playing the course? By god I need them!!

Keep the ball out of the rough..

You could say that about any course!

Try play both. Both stunning courses.

Thanks for that, which do you say is better? and do you need to be ultra accurate off the tee?

Old course is more of a traditional links where the fairways were just left as they were with all sorts of humps and hollows. It's a tricky course, but not that long, with fairly small greens. Faldo did some new bunkering a few years ago. Very good course.

Glashedy is a much bigger course, longer with fairly large greens. It has a great variety of holes and IMO is a bit fairer than the old course as the landing areas in the fairways are pretty flat. One of my favourite courses.

If I had to pick one, Glashedy every time.

I'd agree. But I'd find a way to play both if at all poss
