Hi, I have a booking to fly with Ryanair in two weeks time. However, I may not be able to go due to work commitments. A friend would be willing to use my ticket instead but I was wondering is it possible to change the name on the ticket, and if so how much will I be charged. I tried checking the Ryanair website but I couldn't find the info there. I am not too optimistic but would appreciate any info/advice. Cheers.

    From the Ryanair website: http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/conditions.php?pos=MYFLIGHT
A passenger name can be changed online at the rate of £80/€100 or via the airport or reservation centre at the rate of £120/€150. Name changes can be made online, up to 12 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time or up to 4 hours prior via a reservation centre (subject to reservation centre opening hours). Any name change made to a flight reservation must be for that individual passenger’s complete flight itinerary.

As for getting a refund if you decide not to travel:
Can I apply for a refund for my unused flight?

All Ryanair fares are fully changeable flight/dates/times/routes and names (up to 4 hours prior to original flight departure) however fares, fees or charges are non-refundable. Government taxes are the only portion of taxes, fees and charges which are refundable. Government tax refunds are subject to an administration fee of just £15, which is half BA's admin fee of £30 and significantly lower than BMI's £25 or Easyjet's £17.50. If the refund amount due to the customer is less than the applicable refund administration charge then no refund will be made. Government tax refund requests must be made within one month from the booked travel date.

Why they have to mention competing airline's charges is beyond me.

Thanks v.much for the info. I wasnt hopeful, but by the looks of things the charge of changing the name will cost more than the actual ticket! Typical Ryanair I suppose.
