Thinking of heading to the UK for two weeks in Sept. I’m going to take the car. I was looking at going to Windermere for a few days, then down south.

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers

    Firstly, LIVERPOOL,

    Secondly Chester,

And finally Ellesmere Port - Cheshire Oaks.

Its a short drive from Windermere. This is capital of culture year and there is loads going on. Just before you get to liverpool there is the city of Chester. It has the old fashioned tudor rows of shops and the river Dee where on a nice day, you can hire a small motor boat and take a leisurely cruise.

About 8 miles from there, you have the Cheshire Oaks designer outlet. This is a shopping mecca where you can pick up serious discounts on all the brand named clothing you can think of.

Stenaline do coaches to this place at christmas.

If you're going down south Dorset, Devon & Cornwall would be worth a visit. September is a good time to go as the worst of the heavy tourist traffic will be gone.

I'm not going to suggest places; just doodle along and stop overnight whenever you feel like it. One of the great things about a driving holiday in Britain is the number of pubs/B&Bs where you can stop, have a good feed and a few beers and roll up the stairs to bed.

    Enjoy!

East Anglia has some beautiful spots and some nice villages and there are some nice places all along the south coast from Hampshire to Devon.
