    Hi,
I've using a manual focus macro lens ( a schneider Apo componon 60mm/4) with a D70 to take pictures of insects in the garden. When I push up the magnification by extension, the DOF narrows to where its no more than a few millimeters for say 1:1 mag, even with the lens stopped down.

Exposure, illumination and colour, I've got nailed.

Achieving focus is the real issue, I want to avoid using a tripod and rail if possible.

Is it possible to set the D70 so that the shutter doesn't release until the selected focus sensor activates?
That way I could compose, hold down the release and move slightly in and out and have the camera trigger the shutter on achieveing focus?

The camera does do this in the Auto (hand it to the waiter) mode.

Is there a name for this functionality, does the D300 have it ?

    Niall
