    Hi,

Does anyone know if there is an Internationally recognized Lifeguard Qualification that can be achieved? I'm thinking of going traveling next year and thought it would be a nice qualification to have if i was stuck for a job!

Also if so can the course be done in Galway?

I have all the irish water safety "rescues" 1-4 and work as a lifeguard part time as far as i know they are internationally recognised. There is also a Pool lifeguard award http://www.iws.ie/lifeguards-page45490.html

But i don't no if the pool award is recognised. If you contact the iws they will have all the info. Are you a good swimmer?it is tough, i swam competitivly and still didn't find it easy

I did my training earlier on this summer, its the Royal Lifesaving Society National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or the RLSS NPLQ. Got a job outta it too:P

One of the people doing the course with me was moving to Canada for the summer, and the lifeguard trainer told us it was the most internationally recognised qualification. I did it in Cork, but I'm sure theres loads of these courses run around the country.

    Thanks,

I've found a place in Galway where they're doing that NPLQ and also the National Beach Lifeguard Qualification so i'll sign up for that. It says it internationally recognized too!
