Hey guys, heading to italy next week, just wondering though, is 15ml the most you can have in a bottle? (perfume, etc...)

i think its 125ml it is roughly the same as the average size bottle of after shave? but you can put anything on in check - in luggage just restrictions on carry on :)

Ta for that :D I have contacts solution that's in a pretty big bottle so that was the main reason I was asking! I was wondering if they'd go through all your bags and dumping anything that was more than the max :(

It's 100ml per individual item of liquid and a maximum of 10 such items.

If the container does not specifically state 100ml on the side of it then you may have it taken off you as well, eg a half empty 125ml bottle may still not make it past a particuarly anal "security" person.

Yes- they do dump anything over the max. The limit is 100ml bottle of liquid, which must be in a clear plastic bag and packed seperately (you are allowed up to 3 items though). Its spelt out here.

Things to remember- the rule is one piece of hand-luggage. Some airlines are more strict with this than others (but given the restrictions on hold-baggage, forget about trying to get away with bringing a suitcase into the aircraft with you (Aerlingus in particular have been doing a crackdown- as they have had a lot of delays related to having to restow hand-baggage in the hold). Bite the bullet- put your bag in the hold- its worth paying the extra 10 Euro or whatever it costs.

I ended up getting a bag shredded by French security officials when it was being transferred into the hold because it had a box of biscuits in it
