Does being banned mean you can't post in a forum, or you can't read it?

I don't think you can read it either if you're logged in but I've never been banned so wouldn't know for sure.

Both. If you try to go to the forum, you'll get a "you do not have access to this forum", much like you would do if you tried to view a private forum that you're not a member of.

How come accounts that don't have access to semi-private forums (ie Soccer) can read them?

I'd imagine it's due to Soccer's 'special situation' on Boards, Des.

Because the default for that forum is that you don't have post permissions, much like the Helpdesk afaik.

Well I thought you couldn't read or post in it unless you were given access.

I can read it.. never asked for access, would rather pull hairs off my ball sack with a tweesers..

anyone can read in the soccer forum, you need access to post there. Banned users, I' not really sure.

yes, that actually makes sense now.

banned means you can't post or read, or even access the forum. if someone says they've banned you yet you can read a forum simply means they denied you posting privileges.

Soccer access involves posting rights, not reading.

Being banned from a forum removes all rights.

The banned person can simply logout if they wish to read.

Not so. As posted above if you log out you can view the posts.

Bit like the lap dancing you know. You can watch but not touch ;)

both, you have to log out to read it. why, are you banned from soccer?

i have to log out to read. i can stil however, read the boardeaux forum and tickets. but instead of clicking on soccer, i have to click the sub links for either site.

i.e. if i click on the soccer sub forum, i get the banned notice.

But you can still read the posts, right?

Yes you can but then if you are logged out then you are no longer the user who is banned and so GY was right. You corrected GY, I corrected you.
