NOT the Irish naval service!! Spent a day at the Meet Your Navy weekend at Portsmouth Naval Base and a great day it was too. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a millitary interest, especially those on the navy side. I will be making a few posts with pictures but to start, here are are a few of RFA Largs Bay. This is one of the newest ships in the Auxillary fleet and is absolutely huge. The bridge is 36 meters (117 feet) above the sea, making it the tallest ship in the fleet.

These two were taken from the bridge, to give some idea of the hieght.

Pictures taken from the middle of the cargo deck, first looking forward and the second looking aft. At the far end of the second picture there is a floating dock to accomadate landing craft.

The male sick bay, accomadating 7 bunks, the female sick bay only has 2 beds, they must'nt get sick as much!:D A lot cleaner than any hospital I've been in as well.

Just a note to clear something up. It seems that an administrator has changed the title of these threads about the Meet Your Navy week end. May I point out that the title did refer to the event that runs over three days and is called "Meet Your Navy". The first 5 words of this thread state "NOT the Irish naval service!!" My appologies if this section is suppose to be specifically Irish, but there are other pictures on non-Irish topics here.
