I've trawled wikies, wireshark, ect, and still havent found a response to calm me down.

I dont remember ever installing it, and i'm worried it might be someone on the network snooping on me.

Currently running NOD32, Netlimiter 2 Pro, Utorrent, xfire and Msn. Beyond that it's a fresh install of XP pro.

    1) Can someone use it in conjunction with another proggie to see what i'm doing?

    2) Should I remove it?

It's used to capture network packets, more than likely installed when using a security application like Nmap, TCPDump or Kismet.

//Edit, could also be someone running some password apps / remote record etc.

Can I use netlimiter to track who's accessing it?

    Well then, just remove it...

I dont want to remove it, I want to find the **** who's messing around on the network, if there is one, and kick him off.

NOD32 is a subscription AV yes? Get in contact with them - if something bad slipped past their protection a) Im sure theyd love knowing about it and b) its sort of their job to get it off your system.

Download process explorer. Its a fantastic version of taskmanager.

You can see what launches each process or in your case you can search for what programs are using the winpcap files. You may need to do a little digging to see what files Winpcap installs.

    Its a very handy program.

that program is not something that remotely gives access to someone. its not a security risk.

i have it installed on my computer because it came with a ip/port and network scanning tool i was using.

more than likely it came with some program you installed and never noticed it.

Have a look at when the file was created on your system. That will give you a time frame. It might jog your memory or what you installed around then.
