I was looking through Airsoft News EU and I saw an ad for GFC's new M4A1.I went on to the site and the gun seems very up to scratch. It even has a mosefet and it is only €204.12.The other products seem to be very reasonably priced. The delivery on a large amount of items is free including their own M4A1 and It costs about €70 for up to 45 kilograms. They are situated in Poland which means no customs charge. The M4 does shoot at 420 fps but I emailed them and asked will they downgrade it.I'm still waiting for a reply.

It's a pity they decided to make an M4, as if there aren't enough of them out there already, something a bit more interesting, even a 416, would have been better. But fair play to them for being a little bit innovative, I dont know of any other company who is installing mosfets as standard yet.

I wonder if they offer a downgrade service as by the looks of it most of thier aegs are over 1 joule..

JG have one in their AUG A3, I believe. Vtec can confirm that though - opening up guns makes my teeth itch, so I try to avoid it :)

The MOSFET is used as a switch in this instance.

What normally happens is the micro-switch that the trigger connects to, carries all the current for the motor. The motor is a reactive load and as a result of that and the large current drawn by the motor, the micro-switch contacts can become pitted and worn. This can lead to erratic operation and the micro-switch contacts can even stick.

A MOSFET doesn't replace the switch but rather it carries the high current drawn by the motor. Now all the micro-switch attached to the trigger has to carry is the bias necessary to turn on the MOSFET.

So, no more pitted and burned micro-switch contacts.

Outside of size constraints, its not a big deal to upgrade any AEG with a MOSFET.

(Fot the more techie minded, a gate bias is applied via the micro-switch attached to the trigger, biasing the MOSFET to have a very low source-drain resistance.)
