Sorry in advance if i don't explain myself properly here but here goes......i've just formatted my computer with Xp but the hard drive is 250 GB but Xp is only saying there's 130 GB, think before i formatted i didn't make the other 120 GB an active partition or something, stupid i know. Anyway the bios is telling me i've a 250 GB harddrive but windows says otherwise. Tried unplugging the hard drive to see if that'd help but windows is still saying the same thing.

Anyone know how i can get my other GB's back ?

Just incase anyone asks is a Sata drive

Well I dont know if you can do this under XP but

Go to start > control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management

Now hopefully you should see the unallocated space here.

Now the part I dont know if you can do it under XP is if you right click on the C drive it should give you the option to expand the volume by the amount of unallocated space. Or if you right click on the unallocated space you can turn it into a D drive (better choice anyway)

If memory serves me correct, you can right click the 'unallocated space' and select 'Format'. As said by Overheal, having it as a seperate drive is better because if (or should I say, when) windows becomes corrupted it should only affect the C: partition. Store your photos etc on the D: partition and it can be recovered rather easily.

Yes thanks guys that's what i done it was just that without the service pack Xp was only seeing 130 ish Gb whereas when i put service pack 2 on it recognised the other partition which i named D: and formatted.
