Hows it going, just wondering whats the quickest route from palmerstown to dcu. I was thinking of driving to leixlip, getting a train from there to drumcondra and then a bus up to dcu! What do ya guys think? any ideas?

    Did it for 4 years.

Fastest is by car along the M50.

Unfortunately, my route was 26 into town, 13, 13a, 11 etc... into DCU. You'll get in in about 50minutes on your best day and 90mins+ on the worst.

Seriously, don't even consider it. You'll waste so much time and money it isn't even funny. What are you going to do on nights out, get a taxi home from DCU to Palmerstown? What if there's really bad traffic or a bus/train strike during your exams?

Do yourself a huge favour and beg or borrow enough money to rent somewhere nearby.

I'd say drive the M50, no point in driving to Leixlip and then forking out for bus and train fares. Also you wont get parking in Leixlip unless your very early and you might have to pay for that too if you go to Louisa Bridge end.

I'd recommend driving the M50, it's not as bad as it was, i use it daily. Rush hour can be as bad as 1 hour for the trip but usually 45 mins or so. If off peak, or no traffic it will be less than 20 mins. You could also exit at blanch, head for Kilshane Cross or Ward Cross and use those routes to the Airport, then slip back over the M50 into Ballymun if the M50 is extremely bad.

Will work out way cheaper than moving out (assuming your living with the parents). I drive Maynooth -> DCU via M50 (at blanch I join). 5 trips a week costs me around 20 euro (around 180 miles/week depending on route) + 6 euro parking - bus/rail would be same price (and you'd be paying for parking in Leixlip + petrol/diesel to get there anyway!). Obviously Im not taking into account tax and insurance but I need a car anyway so would be paying that regardless.

I love driving, some people get stressed. If your a stressful person, don't drive.

    I recommend driving.
I live in ballyfermot and have to get two buses everyday, it usually takes an hour and a half... sometimes i'll get there in an hour if traffic isn't too bad.
Public transport is so much hassle
