    Hi all,

Anyone know of a decent chan editor for dreambox? I want to add some sats to my box (there are only 4 on it at the moment) but dont want to have to enter all the transponder data manually. I tried bouquetter but thats in german (there is an english version but the errors are in german). I managed to get some sats/chans updated but they only show up in the epg and not in the transponder edit section in setup. I also tried "dreambox edit" but this did not like satcodx files from the web or the app!!! last of my hair almost pulled out :-P

I think this is better suited to Foreign Satellite forum, so I'll move it there for now, with redirect here.

DreamboxEdit or Dreamset are 2 I use.

The best thing to do is download completed channel settings and edit them down to what sats you want.

As most of the software is buggy, make sure to save everytime you make any signifcant changes.

Most dreambox users at some stage have pulled their hair out. :D

FTP to your dreambox and look for satellites.xml, see what is listen in there. Sometimes this file can get very messed up with adding new channel lists.

    Ronan Raven,

Had a look at the xml and it looked slightly funky altight, some of the sats had no transponder data and were duplicated. Tried a few more times with some channel editors but no joy. XML pretty much stayed the same. Deleted the XML and tried to copy the one from var_int to var but i could not write to var. No chans on the DB, few expletives later i tried dreamset again and it uploaded a new XML, alls great now :-)

    cheers for the help guys!!!

BTW anyone any idea why i couldnt ftp anything into the var fldr? Tried with flashfxp and DCC

May have been some permissions not allowing you to do that action. It is funny like that sometimes. Glad it worked for you. I had similar hassle with my satellites.xml file years back and spent many moons shouting at it :) In the end a simple install of a good file solved it.
