    Hi,

As the title suggests, I am looking for something to import from the United States, (New York) to sell here in Ireland. I lived in New York for years so know the city well. I used to import a certain electronic item ( the one with white earphones !! ) and sell them here but then it got too much as I wasn't exactly forthcoming with all this information and I was told how it could affect me if certain people knew what was going on. So I stopped.

I then imported books but the margin is so low and the postage is so expensive because of their weight that I stopped that too.

I have an EBAY account with a few hundred feedback, 100% positive. I could use this to sell whatever item I bring in.

So, my question is . . . does anyone have any ideas of what I could buy in the USA and sell here in Ireland to take advantage of the weak dollar and the fact that everything is a complete ripoff here in this country.

    Thanks for your suggestions

    Regards

Guess handbags, they are very reasonable in the States and sell for an absolute fortune in BT2.

If anybody had any good suggestions, they'd be following them themselves and not sharing them with anyone else.

Why would you even bother replying if that's all you're going to say ?

    Totally pointless.

There are many reasons why someone wouldn't

    Couldn't be bothered
Haven't the money or time to invest
Don't know the US and don't know where to source goods
No way of selling it on when they bring them to Ireland

    etc.etc.

If you have nothing constructive to add, don't bother posting

And if you have a problem with a post, use the report post function, and leave the moderating to the moderators.

This thread is already borderline (hinting at tax evasion) so I'll ask everyone to stick to suggestions of what to buy and sell, as was asked.

    MEOW!

Actually, I was going to add a bit to what I said before.

What I meant by the above is that any seller out there who has specific info on what's selling and what isn't, isn't likely to divulge this info. However, there are ways to do your own research.

You can do completed listings searches on eBay through the Advanced Search (http://search.ebay.ie/ws/search/AdvSearch). This will only show listings that ended in the past two weeks but it does show you what sold and how much they sold for.

If you're willing to part with some cash to do some more involved research on eBay, you could sign up to Marketplace Research (http://pages.ebay.ie/help/specialtysites/ebay-marketplace-research.html). You could also look into Terapeak (www.terapeak.com). They charge for some of their services but some are free as well. They don't have tools specific to eBay.ie though.

JJ - thanks for the info. I will look into it.
