    Projector
Hi, i have a projecter, which has 1 hdtv connector, a video connection (yellow) and 3 similar connections call pt(red),pb(blue) and y(green) beside it (dont know what they are but theres also the same 3 on the sky box) an S-Video connection but no audio (Red & White) Thats all thats on it.

    DVD Home Theathre
To explain my DVD System which is the Sony DAV-DZ260 and it has a scart connection, an optical and coaxial connection and a HDMI connection, it has no audio video connectors i.e yellow, white, red. If it had i would be grand. Also has audio in 1 port used for attaching calibration mic to and USB on the front AND A DMport at the back whatever that is.

    Sky Box
Has 2 scarts one for Video and One for TV. Audio L & R (Red and white) Coaxial, Optical, USB and HDMI and Svideo.

    Wii
Only connections are Audio Video red white and yellow.

Currently the Projector is connected to the DVD Player via the HDMI connection. Then there is an Svideo connections running from the projector to the Sky box. And finally a yellow video connection running from the projecter to the Wii but the audio cable have nowhere to go so there lying loose.

This allows me to switch between Svideo/HDMI and Video to watch a DVD, the satelitte or watch the Wii. However i have a problem with the sound.

My DVD Player can switch between DVD,TV,Audio,Tuner AM, Tuner FM, USB and DMport. Going to DVD plays the correct DVD sound. Going to TV plays the satelitte but how can i get the wii to play considering there is no other connections coming from the wii other than the the audio video cables yellow, white and red.

The sky box has and audio out L & R but the DVD player dosent have any audio cables just optical and coaxial so how can i get sound to the Wii to play. Can i buy some sort of a switch where i can make it switch between the TV sound and wii sound and wheres the best online place to order that as theres no good PC stores in my town

    Thanks

Your Wii has the capability of RGB or component output afaik. So it should connect to those connectors on the projector - pr,pb,y. The audio is another matter though. Another option is the Wii to SCART connector which also contains the audio signal. This would connect to your Sky box and in theory should switch automatically when turned on and then display on the projector with the audio routing through the audio out on the Sky box though I'm not sure whether it will appear on the optical out or not..

Might be time to upgrade to something a bit more flexible. Hardly Normal do a full AV amp & speakers from about 599. Would be a huge improvement on this to be honest.

The Wii is capable of a higher quality output with the right cables. Have a look in HMV or on Nintendo's site for more details, you're missing out on a quality picture if you're only using composite video. This is the lowest quality signal out of any device.

I think your setup is simply too restrictive. By the time you buy all the converters and switches you might well be better off buying a decent av amp with all the necessary connections.

    Hi Zen,

Unfortunately the dearer alternative is out of my range as i bought this as a present only yesterday for my parents. I know its not best kit out there but the alternative you mention is 2.5 times the price.

So currently i have sound going to both the dvd and the satelitte and i just need to make the wii work. If i unplug the scart lead that connects from the DVD player to the satelitte the sound for everything is gone.

I somehow need to split the sound between either wii and tv or wii and dvd player. It would be more practical to split the sound between wii and dvd player as theyre used the least. Unfortunately ive no idea how this can be done.

I can get my hands on the RBG connector or the scart connection for the wii and i since i can get my hands on either a scart double adapter or whatever you call it or hdmi double adapter basically to plug 2 into 1.

    Anyone any ideas?

If you get the Wii to SCART connector then you could use this SCART Switcher from Maplins. I'm sure I've also seen these in Peats and Hardly Normals too.

The DVD Player and the Wii plug into the 2 sockets and the plug goes into the Sky Box.

I agree. I have a component cable on the way from Dealextreme. 92 positive reviews for €3.76 worth of cable. ;)

I'm in the exact same situation as you, i have a projector, a wii, a 360, dvd player, playstation 2 and then the tv box, i have them all running through an amp except for the video, 360 to projector via hdmi, audio via optical to the amp, ps2, dvd and wii via component to the projector(i have to switch between em when i want to change) and the audio via the amp. the tv box is then running to the projector via composite(it hurts the eyes)

I got a nice multi component cable from ebay for under a tenner, it has a little switch that allows me to change em quickly, beats rewiring every time and luckily the amp has enough audio inputs!!

Also definately get the component wii cable.........the difference is remarkable....seriously

they can all be ebayed for under a tenner
