Hey just wondering, had unprotected sex last night stupid I know so no need to go into lecturing me about it please. I usually have quite long period cycles and am now on my 35th day so really my period is due now anyway. How likely is it that I could be pregnant? Obv morning after pill is difficult to get with it being the weekend. I wouldn't even know how to go about it and I figure I should be safe enough anyway?

It's very unlikely if you're cycle is very regular and is always 35 days. I'd still take the MAP just to be sure though.

ring up your caredoc, south doc, out of hours service, whatever they call it in your area, the doctor there will give you the map.

if you ring your gp, they usually have the number for out of hours service on the answering machine message,.

If you have a regular cycle, it is unlikely you are fertile a day or two before your period.

Of course, you could have a weird cycle which means you could be at risk, but it really is unlikely.

The Irish family planning association on cathal brugha street is open from 2-5pm on sundays specifically for the morning after pill.

Get the morning after pill. Even if you have to break into a pharmacy, get it.

But as stated above, you won't have to do that. Ring your GP's number and his message should give you the no. for your local out of hours gp service.

Don't chance it. Girls, as you know, can get pregnant at any time, including during their period.

    Sort it.

Thank you but I'm not from Dublin unforuntately. I know hteres a small chance i can get pregnant from t he last days of my cycle but argh. I dont know. Im hoping I'm safe. I see no point geting the MAP now as I know the chances reduce the longer the time goes on so it could be all in vain anway. .fingers crossed I supose.

It's still not too late to take it today if I understood correctly but if it was so close to your period, the chances of being pregnant are very slim.

Do try your best to get the morning after pill today. Ring care-doc or your own GP now and ask what would be best to do. I'm not sure how much time has gone by now but from what I read, there wouldn't be much time left for it to be effective. You must take it within 72 hours (as far as I know) of having unprotected sex so get out there now and make a few calls.

Even if you only get to speak to your GP, s/he will be better able to advise you on what to do.

    Good luck.

Hey I know people will tell you there is a chance.... but there really is not. Really do not worry about this at all, you are probably not pregnant. Im sure you know that, but if you are worried try to be rational. Its not like you have to wait long to find out anyway, you will probably get your period today or tomorrow.

No that's not true, you can't get pregnant during your period. You can get pregnant as a result of sex during your period though, there's a difference between the two.
