Just Like to take this opportunity to announce that Steve Morris will be returning To Wexford for a seminar on October 4th.
It will be in the same style as the June 7th one but he intends to run it at a more intense pace.We will be droping the 1 hour break this time as it breaks the momentium of the class too much.
Steve will also be introducing a 2 hour class on knife/weapons this time around.A more detailed description of what will be happening is available on our site at http://wexmma.com/seminars.htm

For info and footage on Steve's methods then visit his site at www.morrisnoholdsbarred.co.uk

    Hi Burty Burr

I be definately down for the workshop, I think they prob be a few others from our group coming down as well. I get the info out over the next week. I hope to be down in the wexford area for the weekend with the family, Looking forward to meeting steve. Some of the youtube clips look good and he seems to have a good open mannerism to teaching and explaining what he does.

Just a quick note for those attending the course on Oct4th. There is free parking arranged at the venue for those driving down. You can navigate your way there from the maps page on the www.wexmma.com site.
Steve Morris has been updating his site and has said this about the class he intends to do in Wexford.....
""......I will also be in Wexford, Ireland, on 4th October. This is a full-day course at a very reasonable price. I'll be introducing this new concept to standup training there as well. In addition, I will be introducing some weapons training, namely, knife, that I've been developing for years and recently updating with a private group for the past six months. I've been doing weapons for a long time--since the early seventies--and I've always tried to move it forward. A lot of the weapons work that you see around these days has just been cobbled together and marketed to exploit the fear of knife crime. That's not what I do. Recently I've taken my long-standing weapons work and incorporated it into the Morris Method as a whole. It all fits together. The quality of this program is comparable to anything else I do. And I can teach it to a complete beginner.

So it's going to be a full day of highly productive training.......""

    BB,

I hope you're getting a good response for this event, if I was around on that date I be there without doubt.

For anyone interested but undecided, don't pigeon-hole what Steve does as being MMA or RBSD - look at it as addressing the key ingredients of fighting, regardless of arena or application, and take from it what you need.

Steve is a true 'outside the box' trainer, that strives to build skills and abilities beyond whatever the level already possessed by the individual - not enforce his own ego at the expense of others.

To risk repeating myself, I cannot recommend training with this guy enough - if you're serious about what you do, you really owe it to yourself to check him out.

    Mick

I missed the last one but I'll get to this one!

Steve morris is one of those guys that get talked about on forums all the time. Generally it's like "One time me and Gary Spiers knocked out a giraffe" sort of thing.

The difference is we can still train with Steve Morris, and he probably has knocked out a Giraffe or a big ugly nutter that looked like one!

In China this guy would be a National Treasure, I don't think I'm over stating the case this one time!

I want to train in a Steve Morris class mainly to learn, and a bit at the back of my mind to say I've done it! I've trained with mad Karate renegade Steve morris! This guy is well known, just not to very many people. I've read his writings on his site and on others, just read them mind, understanding takes a while! He's obviously gone very deep into what he does and the reasons for it. I'm a bit OCD on certain subjects and even i think he goes a bit OTT! Really though, do you want to learn from an advanced student or from a master in a subject?

I am not saying that Steve is a "Master" in a Kung Fu way, just that he is as the Yanks say "a subject matter specialist" and his subject is hitting people and letting them know they've been hit! Check his resume, google the feck outta him. It's what I did and now I want to meet the guy to see if he really is all they say. He'd probably hate that though so i'll just use my name rather than a net name when I do meet him ;)

Considering he constantly mentions the Five Rings in his writings thats not a bad idea!!

There are references in Steve's early stuff about the old notion of the "sword and the pen". Both Steve Meve Morris and Mick Coup have managed to get to a unique stage in their respective approaches to martial arts, they are both in a different league if not a different planet when it comes to their understanding of the fight component of ma but they are both also able to express themselves quite clearly as to what it takes for others to get to that level.

Steve's site is full of his, often disconnected, views on fight components and proper fight training and motivation. You could spend hours on his material but lately he seems to have posted much of the newer stuff on his blog at http://stevemorris.livejournal.com/

I've trained with Mick, been trained a bit by him more accurately, and liked what I've seen!

The only other instructor I've heard Mick comment on is Steve Morris. He says they disagree on a lot, but there are enough things they agree on to make up for it! Their ideas on generating power are similar apparently, and Mick generates lots! Happily he's also able to explain the how and why of it and get everyone attending to improve their striking power and "repeatability".

He also recommended if we could to get to a Morris Method session. That would be enough for me really, but having Steve coming to do a couple of hours on weapons defense stuff! I've seen video of him working out with sticks and he's a scary man! He's obviously gone out of his way to become adept at a lot more than empty hand fighting.

I'm letting the missus know to book the days off from Hospital (where she works) now so as to avoid a repeat of last time! Why can't I just win the Euromillions and train whenever I like?

    Hi guys.

I’m new to these boards, but just thought I’d throw in my tuppence’s worth.

In my opinion for what it’s worth, Steve Morris is one of the best martial artists and instructors operating in the UK if not the world today. The amount of knowledge Steve has is amazing, but even better is the fact he can communicate it to other people enabling them to improve their performance.

Steve is a true experts expert, but not at the expense of getting his message across to others of varying skill levels. Any opportunity of training with someone like Steve should be jumped at, as it will be well worth it and you’ll leave much better than when you arrived.
