A friend is having a bash in a couple of weeks & has said on the invite no pressies. Was thinking of making a charity donation instead & send the card ... you know but chicks sort of thing. Wondering if this would be appropriate & also how much would be appropriate? There'll be 2 of us going & it's in failry 'nice' place.

Sure, if you want. However they have said "no presents". Why can't you simply abide by their wish?
