If so, did you get caught for customs??? I'm looking at 2wedges and maybe a few balls. So the total would be about $300.

I don't think it's easily avoided, most places send via courier (dhl, ups, fedex, etc..) and you will get caught for duty & vat. If you could get them sent by USPS you may get lucky, but most wont do this.

abc, I don't think golfsmith will ship from the US to Ireland. I was looking for some shafts a while ago and they told me to order from golfsmith europe. The only thing is though golfsmith europe is trade only. I know someone who has an account and finally got the shafts but it was a lot of hassle.

BTW if you do order from the states always ask them to send the stuff USPS (US postal service). It's the cheapest, just as quick as a courier service and I personally have never been hit for custom's duties with anything sent through them. I have been caught though by other courier firms. An Post delivers USPS packages.

As above, courier companies such as fed ex routinely declare packages for customs and so you will always be billed for duty & vat (and probably an admin charge).

I was once even invoiced by FedEx for customs charges for an order that was never dispatched by the shop because they were out of stock. They had sent advance notice to FedEx of what was going to be sent who either calculated the customs charges themselves, or processed it through customs in advance of its arrival.

I've found Rockbottomgolf.com good in the past, but remember you will be charged taxes.

You don't get the goods if you don't pay the Fees. buddy of mine got stung on a pair of trainers. Asked the UPS dude could he sort it out himself, Dude said a big NO!

bought from golfsmith last year no problem, item was bit expensive but couldn't get it any where else,
have also bought frow tgw.com a few times,no prob either,
as for taxes a few years ago you may not get charged for items under $125
    but now pretty much always,
unless the item is 2nd hand,or if you can get the sender to mark it as a gift
which they are slow to do:rolleyes:

In my experience, again with FE, they pay C&E on your behalf to clear the item and then invoice you later. It is not linked to delivery as I believe it is with UPS. So it depends on the company. FE will send you an invoice and I would imagine will chase you through a debt collection agency if you fail to pay. UPS as someone else has said will look for the C&E amount on delivery or they won't hand over the goods. In both cases C&E has been paid already and so any dispute is with the delivery company not the government.
