    Hi all,

Bit of good news posted in the IPO thread yesterday.

Jeff Taylor is coming on board to (along with myself) organise/promote/get players talking about the BoylePoker.com International Poker Open 2008.

Most of you will know Jeff as a really decent bloke who runs a great poker tournament and has some really great ideas as to how to improve the way we run this game of ours..... so I am absolutely delighted :)

    Discuss :)

    Thanks,
    Stephen.

How very interesting. Jeff's spent his time on boards almost exclusively criticising every cardroom manager and tournament organiser in Dublin on how they run their events. Now the responsibliity is on him to provide a service to the poker community thats beyond reproach. Now that the ball's in his court, I'm sure he will see just how difficult to both [a] provode a flawless service that pleases all custoers and run this service at a profit for those who have invested financially in the project. I don't know what experience Jeff has in this area or what skills he can bring to the table but I await this development with keen interest. Best of luck in your new role Jeff because you'll certainly be under the spotlight in your new capacity. Any mistakes you make or flaws in your system will be greatly exaggerated because you've been such an outspoken critic of others performances in similar roles. I'm sure you'll pass the the test with flying colours.

Who's going to be TD at Dundalk tomorrow Stephen just out of interest. Will it be yourself - and will you be there yourself Jeff? best of luck on the appointment :)

Still debating whether or not i'll be physically stable to make it down tomorrow or not - have a late night of work tonight unfortunately.

Is there many seats pre-registered by the way ? Just incase I do decide to make it down a bit on the late side.

    Cheers

I always found Jeff (and Anto) to run a very good show with the limited resources he had in DIT. He was creative, inovative and hard-working in his approach to running poker tournaments for an audiance that was far from captive. He spent years on the phone and internet badgering sites and cardrooms for support and got a lot for us DIT students which largely went un-noticed as most were just looking for free cans of Red Bull and little else.

I appreciated these efforts Jeff. I think you will find more people will be saying similar things to you in your new role as you are now working with/for the true poker fans. I cannot think of a better person to help promote Poker Ireland and I am glad you have been given this chance.

Look forward to working with you, WP.

I am going to be TD tomorrow mate. A good few pre-regged but its kind of going out of fashion now in Dundalk (I would strongly advise pre-booking a seat to anyone thinking of going).....Once we get to 140 players tomorrow we will be running a reserves list......Seat reserved for you Sparky (no worries if you can't make it).

Best of luck with this lads.

On the few occasions that i worked with both Stephen and Jeff i've found them very capiable of running a good game.

Its very hard these days to find good guys who have the players best interest at heart. i think this comes from both been players themselves.

I wish you all the best.

Lollers theres an identical one on each shoulder so Im quite well balanced. If you'ld read Jeff's posts over the last year that constantly undermine the hard work undertaken by TD's around the country you would know what I'm talking about.

Think that's the 1st post ive ever thanked sammy!! feeling the love?! Gl Jeff!

As for Conbro's point, load of baloni really. Being critical of something/someone doesnt necessarily imply you could do a better job nor should it prevent you from being critical!

There's a bit of a difference between me giving about Fianna Fail and Fine Gael doing it, when they do it it's b/c they want the job and reckon they can do a better one. Similarily if Trapattoni had criticised Stan......

If it's someone who actively wants the job then they are setting themselves up for a bigger fall in criticising the incumbent. If not, then they are just being critical which is fine. In fact, if anything being critical is more helpful than saying nothing, especially if it's fair comment, i'm sure TD's appreciate all feedback. Jeff shouldnt have to try meet a higher standard because he's been critical in the past - he should just try to meet the ones he sets for himself - and if they dont meet your satisfaction, then feel free to criticise! As for "flawless service" or "beyond reproach" you've lost me completely. There's not a card room in the world i've been to that offers a flawless service beyond reproach.

I met Jeff out in Vegas recently and was very impressed & excited by his ideas in which he thought about the IPO.

I look forward to working with him over the coming weeks and i hope to be able to put some of his unique ideas into reality.

    All the best Jeff!

First, good luck Jeff, hope it works out and there are many photos of you handing me money. However let's not be too hard on Conbro, he may have some kind of a point. If we live by the sword we must die by it. If I for example were to critique some band and then followed them on stage surely then I am open to the same comments if I perform similar. I'm sure that Jeff will know the pitfalls and will avoid them so the citicism may be moot........ Also it's not the WSOP governing body we are talking about here . It's another poker company trying to run a game of poker ..anyway for the purposes of debate I think Conbro is entitled to air his views on the subject..... why not? And from what I see everyone gets a hard time on this forum so no need to overreact and protect Jeff becuase you secretly (or openly) want to date his sister. (from what I read) . As I have no hidden intention, consider my best wishes at face value....:)

When I get fit I look forward to finding out how good Jeff and Gholimoli are at the soccer..... I had trouble running between terminals yesterday. I bore no resemblence to the photo in the passport of a fine figure of a man gazed at by trolley dollys everywhere......It used to take me ages scratching the lipstick off me photo and not one smear yesterday..:(
