    My apologies if this is in the wrong category to post this query, but where can i get the cheapest version of MS Excel. Not bothered what version (2003 or earlier even), once i's compatible with Windows XP...

    You can get Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student edition which includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Onenote for €119.00 in Peats. You can install it on upto 3 computers for non-commercial use

    If you are a student, you can get Office Standard for €79 from www.software4students.ie

    I realise you've specified Excel but if you need something urgently, you could download OpenOffice (free) from www.openoffice.org. Calc is similar to Excel. You can view and edit Excel files.
