What is Automator and Workflow all about?

    Mac noobie question, but how do I use these and what are they for, I can see a record button?? Can someone explain what there for and how there benifical...

    i think it get the idea but i'm still no better off, this is what it looks like when I try and follow that plan on my screen....i don't understand the record and play.....

    is a workflow just a string of automators....

    Automator is the application.
    Workflow is the series of Actions.
    The Record button is so that you can record your own Actions which can then be added to a Workflow.
    The Run button is to execute a Workflow.
