Just wondering - what sort of thickness should I be looking for in a triathlon wetsuit.

I see some there that are 1 - 1.5 mm thick and a i also see some there with 5mm torso and legs - that's a pretty big difference. Can anyone advise what way i need to go on this....given I plan on doing Triathlons around Ireland's seas, lakes and rivers.

    Thx

    Hi Dave,

IMHO a good wetsuit is critical. Do a good swim and it st sets you up for the rest of the race. I have an Orca S2, not the most expensive, but it was the best for the money I had. Cost me about €140 from www.wiggle.co.uk, with free shipping. It has 5mm on the chest, whch make a huge difference in the water. Used it in Dunmore East this year, during heavy sea conditions, and I dont think I would have finished the swim in my old Lidl shorty wetsuit. The buoyancy it give helps with the confidence in the water.

So, I would recommend a suit with thick chest and torso.

    Hope this helps.

Hi. guys. Sorry to just jump on this thread. The story is that I'm going to Canada and the the US (Las Vegas) in September. I was wondering if it would be much better value for me to attempt to get a tri wetsuit over there? If so any particular recommendations? Thanks

yes much better value to be had in US/Canada. Do a search in the slowtwitch.com forums for recommendations for triathlon stores in the various locations you're visiting. I'm going to be in the States in October, November and December and I'm just whittling down my wish list!
