On Pixmania.ie when it asks for my delivery address and and billing address there's no option to say what county I'm from. Is this a problem, I'm from Cork.

Also I really don't want to get the confirmation e-mail whereas I have to prove my Identification. How do I avoid this e-mail.

I registered with Pixmania.ie so it wasnt a problem.

After an extremely unhelpful call to their customer service line about an item I ignored my gut feeling and ordered the item. I payed through my VERIFIED paypal account and they sent me an email asking for copies of passport\bill AFTER they took the money, so I duely told them where to go and cancelled the order. Also you cannot delete your account! I had to change the details to fake ones. Pixmania FTL.

There should be a Town/City box, may not be a County one though.

This is Pixmania's decision, and there's nothing you can do about it.

I fell it necessary to inform readers that nothing has changed with Pixmania in the last 5 years as regards customer service or the lack of it.

I ordered an item before I checked out the aftersales service. As soon as I realised that there was NONE I cancelled my order - within 24 hours, BEFORE they took the money from my credit card and BEFORE despatch (according to their tracking). Yet they shipped the item 24 hours AFTER CANCELLATION. When the item arrived by post I refused to accept it or sign for it. I asked them to return it to Pixmania.

I have since being attempting to make contact with them but I'm only receiving automatically generated emails in response, one of which claims that having checked their records they find I have accepted delivery and signed for the product.

Once I've used an item on their drop down menu in their FAQ (not the most obvious place to find customer service) it gives me a response "Your question has already been taken into account" and will not allow me to proceed. They effectively cut a customer off from communicating in any meaningful manner.

This situation has has been going on for 2 weeks now. I'm not sure where I take it to next as I'm owed a very substantial sum of money by Pixmania. I now have an address in France which will be a possible next tool to use in recovering my loss.

I'm keeping a copy of all my correspondence, dates, content etc.

The reason websites like Pixmania exist is because people like me look before we leap.

I've bought loads of items from pixmania, no problems with any and delivery very quick

Secret Garden, forget about trying to contact them. The only way they will contact you about this is if you contact your credit card company, in writing, with copies of the emails showing you cancelled before despatch and ask the credit card company to do a chargeback.

The parcel will then suddenly appear with Pixmania.

This appears to be their MO. They will not cancel any order that they have in stock.

Other thing to watch out for is that they will refund less the postage. Again credit card company is the only way to go.

I have done this already.

I found that best option is go all the way to a country manager or CEO done it twice, once with Amazon and once with Pixmania, the issues got resolved within a couple of days.

Search in google for CEO Fotovista the company that owns Pixmania (it was U. Jerome about a year ago email u.Jerome@fotovi.....com), send him email if CEO change and his/her e-mail address is not listed search in google and you will find the format used was/is (initial 1st name.surname@fotov....com - u.Jerome@fotovi.....com) send him a mail with all the details, he should get someone to contact you within a couple of days.

Just thought I’d share my recent experience with Pixmania. I bought a phone from their ebay shop which had a fault on arrival. I contacted them to let them know there was a problem. I then packaged up the phone ready to post it back, but got an email from them next day saying that it would be collected by courier the following day.
Phone was collected as promised and received a refund for the cost of the phone ( less shipping) within 1 week. I felt this was ok as they had collected the phone and it got back to them much quicker than if I had posted it. A few days later I got a refund of the original postage costs… Full refund within 10 days. S o they are not all bad!

Thanks Nava

You put me on the right track - I think. Unfortunately; to date, I've failed to find any contact details for anyone in Fotovista, however I've discovered that Pixmania is a brand name for Fotovista which is now 70+% owned by DSG International ex-Dixons Group plc. Headquarters location: Maylands Ave. Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP2 7TG
Tel. 44-(0)1442-353-000.

I located the names of this board of directors including the CEO from their Annual Report dated in July 08. I will contact these individually as is necessary in order to recover my outlay.

www.transnationale.org is a great website to trace companies / parent companies etc., as in this instance when no information is readily available.

ei9go: thanks, however I don't want their product, I cancelled my order the moment I became aware of their lack of customer service. When the item was delivered I refused to accept it.

I'm keeping a record of all correspondence, unfortunately until now it was a website form only but never-the-less I copied and pasted all content for my records before I submitted.

I'll let you know how I get on, hopefully sooner rather than later. I can only say I've learned from this experience.

Does anyone here know of www.digizo.co.uk are they reliable etc. All the usual questions re customer service etc.

Again many thanks

I think you can be lucky or unlucky with Pixmania. I purchased many items from them before and no hassles but my last purchase was a disaster (mentioned on this forum in another thread) . When they have messed up something it really does get royally messed up.
I called them over 20 times and eventually after 7 weeks I finally received my item:mad:

I'm not so quick to buy from them ever again.

This is exactly what I did, used paypal, they asked for a copy of my passport and a bill. First time any website has ever asked me for anything like that. Fair enough, they want to be secure but it doesn't make them too easy to buy from. Anyway cancelled that order.

After hearing some stories about them I was worried they were going to be awkward with the refund but in fairness to them I got the refund the next day so at least that was something.

Hi Guys,
I bought a panasonic camera before my wedding and honeymoon last August from pixmania. After been lugged around the inca trail and skiiing and other weekends away it worked fine. But in March it gave up the ghost and lens wouldn't extend when it was switched on. I sent it back to pixmania and after a little bit high jinks where they claimed it haven't been delivered; (they use this to give themselves extra time) a month and half later I got the camera back in working order. Only peeve I have is they should have paid me back the postal charges I incurred by posting it back to them.

So message is if you got patience then they do have a good returns policy.

I also had a problem with Pixmania but it was resolved without a hitch, basically the package was lost by DHL and on me ringing them several times I gave up and emailed pixmania. They responded by giving me a voucher for the amount of the postage and then send out a new item to me which I received 3 days later.

Have bought around 5 items from pixmania over the years and I am very impressed thus far.

I would not deal with them. Was going to buy a tv as they take laser

I cannot find a way to log out without paying for the item. I had to make sure enough fund was in my laser. Also, my account cannot be deleted so i changed it to an fake one

Changed my mind about dealing withthem. If they can't run a website its a red flag to me

Hi All

I disagree re the PIXmania website not being built well... it does exactly what the company wants... it very deliberately prevents contact!!!

When you finally find the means to do so, you will only get an automated response. If by any chance you get a reply from a REAL person, it's worthless as they don't read the content of your email and the response is meaningless.

I finally got a total refund six weeks after I made the purchase, but only by going through the parent company (details in my earlier post if anyone wants it) and emailing every day - sometimes twice a day and by making a report to my credit card company.

I will never, never attempt to even open the website again - there is NO customer service whatsoever...

Hi folks!
Just to let you know about my experience with pixmania: bought a video camera from pixmania.ie , paid with the laser card, but never received the iten
So i wrote to an post, they said they couldn't find the item, and i should talk to the seller, to make a claim on the insurance, wich i did..
After 4 weeks of no information, after 10 emails from the website form - they always replied like: 'we will look into it', i decided to ring them on the number advertised on site, at national rate ( what serious company does't have a free to call number?)
after 5 minutes with the answering machine, someone, from a call center in romania ( customer care for ireland and uk ,is in romania, btw)responded that there is a glich within the company levels, and they forward my query to the upper levels, in france
I don't think i have to mention that i called every week, for 3 weeks, 10 min/call, just to hear: will forward your complain to the team leader in france...
So, i don't know about you gus, but i will NEVER buy something from pixmania
Btw, i bought from the online shop and not from the mall, just because ireland is a small market and they didn't have the item i wanted
