Meh, tis very annoying. Every other bugger is seeming to have their line upgraded but me. What does poor muggins get? A 50ms higher ping and bugger all else.

:( Games were always touch and go, but now they are useless to try playing.

according to my bill I pay 80 euros every 2 months for 1mb crappy broadband.

Why oh why? We had ourselves a lovely Celtic tiger and we didnt invest **** all. Imagine if we had just spent some..... Small country, totally fibre optic = the win.

    /rant.

1Mb isnt getting upgraded, you will have to switch to 2mb to get upgraded to 3mb or the 3mb product to get 7.6mb.

im just pissed of that my pings have shot up to an abysmal level. Is it a coincidence that my line attentuation has also shot up past 50dB?

You may have been moved from low to high interleaving - give them a buzz and tell them latency is important to you and you want to try low interleaving.

Have you made changes to anything in your house?

Have you got Sky? A monitored house alarm (like Eircom Phonewatch etc.)

How many phone points have you got? Are they all filtered? Are you using an extension cable for the BB?

Bitstream customers can't configure interleaving... LLU on the other hand, can.

Okay this just takes the ****ing piss.

I ran the bastards up and got through to some monkey. I asked him bluntly "what package am I on". He shifted a few papers and then said.....on option 3.

    WTF????

I said, dude this seems a little bit off. You told me you were downgrading me to 1mb over a YEAR ago. His reply? You should have told us sooner.

cheeky muppet (even though he is slightly correct :o, I just assumed they had moved us down from 3mb to 1mb billing wise as well...).

So I then said to him, I hope you can understand that im getting 1mb here when ive been paying for 3. He said, yes I can, so I say can you sync me at 3mb. His reply? No.

I was like wtf? He said that though the line should be able to take it, they are upgrading atm and he did not want to inconvience anyone.

Would it really cause that much inconvience?

    Meh, now im REALLY pissed.

I don't understand- if you are paying for the 3mb service then why are you on the 1mb package. You should have demanded they set your connection to 3mb or at least 2mb as that's going to 3 soon anyway.

Thats precisely my point. I DEMANDED (after asking nicely) that he put me back onto 3mb which is what im paying for, but he refused. He merely said that the lines are being upgraded and that my speed will increase.

WTF? So for over a year they have had me on the 3mb service because they were going to upgrade me?

Jeez! Your bills are incredibly high! I pay around 150€ for 2 months for 3Mbps! I don't ring that often. I'm guessing you must be ringing mobiles/abroad loads...my only explanation!
I think you got an... incompetent on the phone. What I usually do is:
Don't waste your time trying to understand the gibberish.
Don't waste your time trying to make yourself understood!
Just ring at another time, the chances are you can get a different, more competent.
Just to be clear, BT is unbelievably bad with their billing system. Whenever I need them I make sure to ring 2 or 3 times to make sure my demand has been taken into account (had to do when I changed my banking details...)

    Just checked my bill.

It says I've BT Internet charges of 110.66

P**cks. They have me on the wrong package. The most expensive package with free calls. The guy I ordered it off on the phone new EXACTLY what package I wanted. I made sure he did.

edit: Turns out we actually saved money by being on that package :D It doesn't make their wrong doing right though!
