Replaced T8100 with a T7500: short-changed?

Had a mobo replaced and ended up with a Core2Duo T8100 [3M L2 cache; 2.1Ghz] when the old chip was a Core2Duo T7500 [4M L2 cache; 2.2Ghz]. So, it looks like it's a little worse for performance, but it has the new Penryn architecture.

Is this a downgrade, no matter how trivial the difference? It's kind of a matter of principle, given the situation, and I feel entitled to a replacement of equal value to the original. :D

    Any thoughts?

Little difference if any. The T8100 is more efficient clock for clock so I'd say performance is the same. The 8100 will be more energy efficient and will run cooler so that would be the better of the two in my opinion.

I'd rather have the Core2Duo T8100 to be honest...

    Big time!
It runs a lot cooler and is quite a good bit better on battery life.

Thanks for the replies everyone - it seems pretty unanimous. Maybe I'll ask for a T8300 anyway, just for the craic! :pac:

    No harm in trying.
