Curryman, those DAB stations were also being broadcast as part of the DTT trial as well as separately on DAB. What model is your Sony Bravia? If it's a W4000 series it will have a DVB-T/MPEG4 tuner and will pick up the MPEG4 tests from next week. If its MPEG2 only, you won't get anything. Sorry. :(. There will be no more MPEG2 broadcasts as part of any upcoming DTT test/service.

Check your owners manual if you still have it. Look at the tech specs at the back. It should state what type of digital tuner is in your TV.

The Sony website says the Bravia 4000series is DVB-t/MPEG2 and not DVB-t/MPEG4 as stated here. The url is shown here.

Yip. Definitely MPEG4. Heres the link to the manual. See page 33, Colour/Video System - Digital:

Cant see why the new Sony TVs that support Mpeg 4 won't get the Irish stations when they are launched!

I have a W2000 Sony, my way around it will either be Play Tv for the PS3 or getting a Cam to stick in the side of the TV that will allow my Tv to recieve Mpeg 4 signal!

For anyone interested the W3000 range is Mpeg 4 compatible along with the latest range of Sonys ie. W4000, V4000, V4500 and as far as I know the new E series!

Think the very latest Philips are also Mpeg 4 compatible!

I can confirm that the Sony Bravia X3000 range can also decode MPEG4.

    Absolute rubbish

New Sony Bravia TV's (4000 range) have a built in DTT/DVB-T tuner capable of decoding Mpeg2 or Mpeg4. They can do both UK Freeview (DVB-T/MPEG2) and Public Service Irish DTT (DVB-T/MPEG4) without any cams or cards.

Sorry mate but you are just plain wrong and you have received incorrect information.

Older Sony TV's will need an STB or CAM Module for IRISH PUBLIC SERVICE DTT. Sony's newer models will NOT. I have a Sony W4000 and have been watching the MPEG4 transmissions for a week now with no cards or STB.

Everyone will need an STB or at least CAM/Card module to receive Boxer.

    Yes that Sony does work....

    Sony Bravia 32 W 4000 - LCD TV

    As do :
    Sony V4500 Series | KDL37V4500, KDL32V4500, KDL26V4500

    Samsung - LE 37 A 676 - LCD TV

    Philips - Philips 42 PFL 9703 H - LCD TV

    Anyway back to the point.

THe "DAB" stations were rebroadcast on the DTT platform as part of the DTT trial. The DTT trial has ended. You will only receive them with a DAB Radio now. Or online.... the links........ to the RTE ones Pulse Gold etc.

According to the Irish sony site all the V and W models only have an MPEG2 DTT tuner

The one I listed Sony Bravia KDL 4000 - LCD TV has an mpeg4 tuner.

Here is the manual http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3298243111.pdf (Page 33)

I have the 46" version (and it has an mpeg4 tuner).

The blurb on that Sony site is wrong! The link to the manuals is from the sony site (and they all quite clearly state what type tuner is in it).

Perhaps someone should tell Sony that the BRAVIA W4000 Series ALL have mpeg4 tuners.

There are after all 17 model series that have the same spec....
