Was up in newry today toyztore in the quays center they are doing a euro for a pound, if something in the shop cost 25 pound you pay 25 euro.

For example my wife got our daughter baby born horse and cart for 25 euro this costs 50 euro in dublin, another good thing is if you pay in euro they will give your change in euro.

This offer only lasts till sunday at 6pm just thought i would give a heads up if people want to give santa a head start.

Supervalu on Newry High Street was offering 85c to the pound today.

Specsavers in the Quays SC was offering €1 to £1.

Just a warning to anyone going up to Newry - go early in the day. Parking today in either the Buttercrane or the Quays was nutz.

The way the Euro/GBP exchange rate is going, it will soon be 1 to 1 anyway.

I was up in Newry with my mate last saturday (15/11/08).and yes ...The toyztore have a fantastic deal a euro for pound. The shop in question is located in http://www.thequays.co.uk/tenantlisting/results.asp?id=72
Now...very important .The Toyztore is open from 9 am on saturday's however the best time to come to Newry for shopping will be 8 am (Sainsburys open at 8 am).If you arrive later than 9 am you may have a great difficulties to park your car.Overall the Toyztore was the only place where we could find a euro for pound offer.Another thing...If the small shops in Newry don't display their conversion rates at the window then you have to ask for their conversion rate before you do any shopping .Last saturday the conversion rate was 86 p for euro but small shops charged us 75/77 p for euro ...(very unpleasant experience indeed).THE best place(closest) in Newry to change the money we found in Buttercrane shopping Centre .http://www.buttercraneshopping.co.uk/centredirectory/viewdetails.asp?tenantID=51
So That's all and good luck with your shopping

just a word of warning guys, make sure you bring cash(as in euro) because if you use your credit card it takes it in sterling and converts to euro so you are not getting the £ for € rate. almost got caught but i questioned the till person(don't know the correct title, perhaps checkout operator?) just as my wife was handing her card over.luckily i had euro notes in my wallet.

Hope that makes sense for you

Yeah not many of the shops I wanted though! Can't remember what types they were but they didn't have clothes or anything to interest a 25 year old male..... Also beware! burger king is doing 75p per €1!

Take Euro... for buying in euro if you need sterling take it from atm.... but use the one your bank is in partnership with. eg. my bank is ulsterbank, so i use ulsterbank.... think AIB might be first national... I may be wrong so please check on your banks website or maybe somebody else knows them all! BAnk of Ireland also have atm's up north... MAkes a difference in to use the correct one to avoid charges.... you still won't get the rate quited on xe.com... but thats what I always do and I'm up there every second week or so to see my girlfriend... I also avoid paying with card at the till as you are subject to an ERTF fee here also!

I don't think you're meant to start duplicate threads on the same topic, especially dragging up 2 year old ones
