Wide angle lens

    Hey folks,

    Well I know I haven't been into photography for long, but I'm absolutely dying to get myself a wide angle lens. I was messing around with someone elses camera the other day using a WA lens and I was amazed at the different feel to the shots I got out of it.

    So can anyone recommend a wide angle lens to me? I can't spend too much, so preferably something cheap. (I'm using a D70 if that makes any difference)

    What lens have you got?And do you find it very limiting for wide angle shos?

    Looking at the exif data from your photo's I guess you are
    using the 18-70mm lens.

    18mm is still pretty wide despite it being on a crop camera.

    You could always take 3 or 4 photos succession and then stitch
    them together as a panorama? Thats what I have been doing the
    last couple of years until some point where I can afford a sigma
    10-20mm or equivalent. :)

    thats not going to give you the same result. 18 on a crop camera is that wide really

    I use the Sigma 10-20 too, on a D80. Great lense, if you get a good copy but isnt exactly cheap. I would say well worth the money though. That is, if it was ever a possibility for you. And you might get it even cheaper on the net. Unfortunately, you won't get a cheap wide angle lense.

    Thanks, I might look into getting one second hand.

    I don't think I'd be able to take a few photos and stitch them together, and anyway that's not the reason I was getting one. I just love the look the wide angle gives, even up close to something. If it's too expensive to get one second hand I'll just have to wait til I'm a bit more obsessed with photography to get one :p

    I have a 10-20 too and it does give great shots. However most of the time I put the 17-70 on the camera and leave the 10-20 at home. I don't like lugging lots of gear around so I find the 10-20 doesn't get much use.
