Just wondering whether anyone here know anything about SDP motors in Arbour Hill, Dublin???

My girlfriend needs her punto serviced (badly!!!) and she is in the Smithfield area. Any other recommendations? I have had a search already and thats how I came up with the above.

The guy is quoting me ~160 for a basic service...

    Cheers!

Thumbs up from me for SDP - we use them all the time from work.

I've used them extensively too, never had an issue - the lads are great!

    One word - EXCELLENT.

In my previous job as after sales manager for a fleet company, I used to use them on daily basis. I get my wife's car serviced there and practically all my extended family use them too. Never once have I had any hassle - I can't recommend them enough.

Based on the feedback above I decided to bring my car here, so said I would post how I got on:

I rang about 4 weeks ago and said my front brake was binding/catching, so they told me bring it in and they would look at it. When i dropped it in I told them not to worry about the warning light as the brake wear sensor just hadnt been replaced when I got the brakes previously changed.

I got a phone call the next day from them telling me the brake was seized (surprise, surprise:eek:) about 180, 270 inc labour. I asked multiple times would the clean the piston, which they replied "NO" repeatedly, i then asked about a re-conditioned or breakers (caliper), they said 'No' to that or that i'd be only wasting my money (this is a 2000 car and i didnt want to be spending a fortune).

I had my nct coming up so i said i'd do that and see what else is gone, they said they'd have to put back together & ring me back when i could collect. After 2 days still no word, i rang them & they said i could collect.

When i arrived i asked them how much i owed them, to which i got a bill for €78, they had replaced the brake sensor(€11). The bill said investigate brake catching and replace sensor. I dont know what investigation they did (i.e. put on the ramp spin the wheel and charge me to tell me what i already knew - the brake is catching and replace a sensor i told them not to, this brake sensor just needs to be plugged in & doesnt need to be cleared with a diagnostic tool). I was dumbfounded by the bill & was still muttering about it hours later that night.

They plugged out the battery which is in boot when replacing sensor and didnt even bother screwing it back in fully or replacing the covers & carpet etc.

So anyway i decided to take out the brake piston and clean myself to discover there was only minor rust & dirt on it. Cleaned myself, brake passed the NCT no problem and I've had no problems in the weeks since.

I've never been to the garage before and alot of the above seem very pleased but i would never dream of returning here!!
