They announced whoever Dublin get in the draw, they would play them in Croke Park on Saturday 9th August. Now Armagh and Galway have said they wont play in any other venue except Croke Park, so the GAA have to decide whether to put the Dublin match back until Saturday 16th August instead.

Yes I know and it has been confirmed for a week or so, but they are thinking of changing it now. My boss is on the Connaught Council, he said the decision is going to be made after the draw on Sunday night about changing the date.

Apparantly the GAA have also said that one of the reason that all this weekend's qualifiers are at Croke Pk is because some of the winners may not be playing their QF in Croke Pk.

According to TOdayFM news at 11am, they are working towards a Dublin stand-alone game on 9th August and having a Cork hurling & football double header on Sunday 10th. Therefore, if the Armagh & Galway QFs are to be played that weekend, they won't be in Croke Pk.

Well i am still annoyed that this weeks qualifiers are in Croke Park.

Yet again Kerry supporters are being asked to travel up for a late game in croke park it will be 2am before some kerry supporters make it home by the time they have got through Dublin traffic!

This will be only the 3rd Championship match i have missed in 14 years! All because of the time and venue.

Portlaois would have been a much better option or even if it was on at 2pm.

Well Andromeda, Monday is a bank holiday, so there is no rush in getting home, and surely you'd want to see Kerry play their last championship match of 2008.:)

That is assuming Andromeda works a normal Monday-Friday job or if he/she is not working the bank holiday Monday.

Well i have work at 7am on Monday morning, i don't get Irish bank holidays unfortuantely. But the point i would make is if you have young kids its not a option either.

Ah well there's always the Quarter Final!

Anyone who thinks that Tipp/Waterford will sell out Croker is seriously deluded. That's a game that could be in Thurles, or even Cork.

theres an extra weekend for ya!

Waterford played Limerick in the AI semi last year. Kerry v Monaghan was played before that match in Croke Park so I would assume that one of the football qf matches will play curtain raiser again

Does anyone else think the gaa cowed to pressure against Dublin? Like if they had given the 9th to us galway and armagh et all would have been uproarious saying the gaa were siding with Dublin cos of crokers location.

Ti the best of my knowledge only Dublin have said they wanted the 9th as all their training had been geared towards that being the match day rather then the following week, now i dont know if the other teams had said anything like this so forgive me if i am wrong, but what would have been so bad on giving us the 9th?

The big difference is that its an all-ireland semi final not a quarter final, it would be totally unaccepatable to ask the winners to play an AI as their first game of the year in croker.

True, and regarding last years attendence, the double header of the Waterford Limerick AI Semi and Kerry Monaghan AI Quarter attracted a near capacity, (70,000+ I think) so I wouldn't be surprised to see them do the same again
