Shouldn't the thread title be "Two Poker dealers needed, €15 an hour, plus tips."
(not "Two Poker dealers needed, €15 an hour, inc tips.") :)

Min wage is €8.65. Nights shift = 33.3%. Should be at least €11.53/h.

Cheers but still cant see anything specific to premiums for working nights, Ive looked before aswell. Luckily poker players are generally good tippers so it doesnt matter.

4 years ago dealers didnt get paid at all, just lived off tips - the loophole used claimed that we were all franchisees paying the club to work there.

Any employer worth their salt should pay for working unsocial hours. I am not sure if this is covered under employment law. But industry standard would be 20% for evenings and 33.3% for nights.

We pay €10 an hour and we gaurentee at least €5 an hour in tips.
if dealers make more then they are paid out.

The house doesn't take any dealer tips they are divided equally among staff depending on how many hours they work.

I have fired two dealers since we opened, i dont let people steal from the business or treat our members poorly.

    Shame on you!!! :D

Dealers lived off tips 4 years ago?? wow. tips must really have goen south since then. cant imagine anybody tryin to live of tips these days

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

Just to clarify if the tips are less than €5 an hour the house makes up the difference, that way we can gaurentee at least €15 an hour although in saying that it usually comes out to about €17 an hour for dealers.

Don't think my staff would work for €11.63 an hour.

To clarify, cash game dealers lived off tips, theres still a few casinos you could make a decent living doing that.

But still no employee should have to depend on the goodwill of there customers for all there wages.

    i dont know this place.

im not tryin to be funny when i say name one. i was aware that some dealers lived off tips however was under the impression that it was only trainee dealers who had to do this until they were up to standard or whatever and then they gained a full wage also...

The fitz, it changed a few years ago - around the time licensing first started being mentioned, it was still good money, I was making around €14p/h in tips so the min wage raise was nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,613 ✭✭✭mormank

you were making 14 bucks an hour off tips??? that amazing. i cannot believe that. thats the same as the irish open and on a weekly basis!!

    Standard in Dublin tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,613 ✭✭✭mormank

i dont see how the expected tip point could go up by so much. obviously there are more players etc but this is evened out by more dealers to share the tips amongst...they must be awfully generous tippers up there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

No its just that poker is new to most of the country, any game in Dublin if someone doesnt tip a regular will give them a gentle reminder, its the same in Vegas. You dont get that in the country, theres not enough regulars tipping every pot they win.

Id expect to be dealing 25 hands an hour averaging a euro a hand.

There are places outside dublin that you would get that too, the games go much faster in Dublin too from my experience, so if its a decent tipping table its very lucrative.
