Is there any reason people would be put off?

Not having a go at anyone - kids hang around there drinking and fighting at night, saw 2 fights while getting food the last time I was there. On the bright side there seems to be around 15 security on at all times.

Oh, was just wondering, seems like a strange comment from a person trying to get people to attend. :) Bit ruff then.

Bohsman, Whenever i post anything on boards, you always have a go, whats the deal?

The comment was made as our club is above an amusement arcade, which attracts kids etc, althought the card room is operational at night when kids are in there beds (hopefully)

Been here 7 months never had any problems and we have lots of members who happily play poker every night, with varying degrees of skill and luck.

The champoinship tables are how they were described when i purchased them at the casino show, in London. They are large permanent high quality tables, unlike the small fold up ones you find in some clubs.

Our Rake is 5% of the pot, its transaparent and capped at €25.

Not the first time you have made a nasty comment about my club or its location. Have you actually been in the club?

There was no nasty comment made, read it again imo.

Yes I have. Cant remember what name I gave on signup. I fail to see the nasty side of saying that kids hang around drinking and fighting outside that area but security keep a fairly close eye on the situation.

ye that rake is an absolute joke, u even had that in your low staked .25c/50c, which i watched and saw you take over half the money of the table

Jesus Christ, what on earth is going on around here these days? Cranky, argumentative, disagreeable. It's like watching f*cking Eastenders. I come on here to get away from that sh!te.

Hey Poker Room guy. If you're gonna come on here and promote your club, don't be so f*ckin' sensitive. FFS, it's a poxy online forum. Your bound to get people who don't agree with things you say or just plain don't like you. But to start the crap in the thread that's supposed to promote your own game in your own club is a bit much. Grow the f*ck up, or there's a strong possibility you'll end up sitting in Tallaght on your own. My house is five minutes from that "address". I still think I'd prefer to drive into town, just in case I had to listen to you moaning.

With regard to the rake I disagree.

If you use the usual Irish card club rake of €8per hour per player on a 10 player table thats €80 an hour, regardless of the amount on the table, small game still €80 an hour.

Our average rake on a 10 player table is €75 an hour. If it is a bigger game with bigger pots the rake may average €90 an hour and smaller games €50 an hour.

I believe its a much fairer rake than the standard €8 an hour per player as card clubs do everything they can to limit the action so the players stay at the table longer and your money ends in the rake. pot limit, Limited buy-in, no live straddle are all in place to limit the action so players dont go broke and the money ends up in the rake.

As far as the comment on our small game, with regard to the rake we dont rake any pots under €20, so many pots weren't raked at all. The average rake on the 25cent / 50 cent table was €20 an hour, we provide a dealer,
complimentary beer and food which i am sure you enjoyed so I think that your comment is very unfair.

I moved to Ireland from the States 18 montsh ago and the 5% capped rake is very common in U.S Poker rooms.

Not capped at $25 though. Vegas card rooms charge 4 or 5 max per hand at 1/2 or 1/3 in my experience.

    ^^ Yes capped at $4

Same reply our rake on an hourly basis is lower than €8 an hour per person tables.

We also offer complimentary, beer, bulmers and free food every night.

If you prefer to pay the €8 an hour then thats your choice.

Not sure why you're including me in the Eastenders rant Tony. I was simply asking why a person who is promoting poker in their club would put "don't be put off by the address" in their thread. As someone not from the area or never having visited the club i was wondering why people would be put off by the address. There is obviously some reason why people wouldn't come to the area, so me asking what it is isnt really "eastenderish" now is it. I thought is was a question more people would be asking.

I wouldn't be too bothered by comments made by someone who's club had to close down due to lack of business to be honest

It's not bloody rocket science now is it ??? People on here are constantly bad mouthing the location of the club so thats obviously why it was put there

Dub Tony you need to show a bit of respect aswell, giving it all the attitude and swearing at people in your posts, its not needed, if you can't make a post without being vulgar then I suggest you don't post anything.

That rake is pretty similar to what you would esxpect to pay at the IO or EPT events. Its not what you would expect to pay at a local cardroom. It basically means you're paying 25 euro out of every 500 euro pot you win. To try and then suggest that this system represents better value to the customer than the one which is impleented by other cardrooms around the city is ludicrous.

final reply on the Rake at the Poker Room.

On saturday we had two full cash tables all night. We play 1/2 no limit with an optional 5 live straddle. On the main table the straddle is taken up by players about 80% of the time so the game plays much more like a 2/5 game.

As afar as i know card rooms that rake players by the hour charge €5 per half hour for a 2/5 game. So with 10 players its a €100 an hour per table.

On Staurday the average chip stack at our main table was €500-€600 it was an action table with lots of good pots and our average hourly rake for a 10 handed table was €78. Our highest hourly rake of that table was €94.

As a room we provide complimentary beer, cider, soft drinks, hot drinks and food at the table, which is the best comp i am aware off in ireland.

If your happy paying €10 an hour in your room regardless of chip stack or pot size go for it, but I believe that the poker room offers its players excellent value for money and a very good game of poker.

in all fairness was there only 10 or 12 hds played per hr or wat with no 25 cap taken because even 200 pots rake is 10 bucks and if as u said it was a action table u must have taken more than 78 rake per hr
