    Hi

I have the following CF card - SANDISK CompactFlash memory card Extreme III 8Gb in my camera.

I formatted the card in my camera. When I put the card into a card reader and plug it into a Laptop via USB the Laptop is unable to read the card (An XP and Vista) , but when I plug it into a Desktop PC(XP) the card can be read.

I tried it in 2 laptops, one being XP and one Vista. The desktops that I tried it are XP.

The reader that I am using is

Any one else have these problems or know how I can go about getting the card to read in a laptop?

I have a similar problem with an SD card. It reads fine when i put it in the card reader or connect the camera directly to the laptop. If i put the card directly into the card slot on the laptop it is not recognised?? I tried it in the card slot on another laptop and the same thing happened. Could be a similar problem.

The power available on a laptop may not be up to the task of a CF card of that size. If this is the case there's no way around it I'm afraid.
