Getting into... Product Development

    Hi,
I was told by a career guidance guy (a couple of years ago) that Product Development should be something that I should look into. The suggestion came to him at the end of our chat, and so we didnt discuss it in depth.

I am googling it and have only found bits n' pieces. It seems to need a marketing qualification.
My strengths are communications, software & concepts (introducing & development of) My background is in Graphic Design.

What should be my next step? Study Marketing? Not a big fan of studying something for the sake of it, but if its absolutely necessary ill have to grin and bear it.

Any ideas on how to get into it or any links would be great!

    Thanks

    It's a fairly cushty job :)

You could start as a business analyst.

I think Norkom hire business analysts with little experience...

There are many different area's dealing with product development. I started in product development but in hardware and have now moved onto more research based new technology development. It depends on what industry your interested in.

With your background I think he may have been hinting towards software development? I presume there's a large business side to development of products and brands so I presume that's where google is focusing on?
