    Hi

I have the following CF card - SANDISK CompactFlash memory card Extreme III 8Gb in my camera.

I formatted the card when I got it in the camera. When I put the card into a card reader and plug it into a Laptop via USB the Laptop is unable to read the card, but when I plug it into a Desktop PC the card can be read.

Any one else have these problems or know how I can go about getting the card to read in a laptop?

    Thanks

what reader are you using? I think is a reader (or its driver) issue more than a card issue

what OS are you on each pc?

Might be an os issue most of the time though xp and vista are just plug and play unless one millenium or something

Might be a good idea to make a post in the winodws forums too

what drive letters have you assigned on your laptop? when the reader is plugged in, go to:

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management

the device might be there and you might have to assign drive letters manually.

see if you can get a lend of another card reader to see if that is the problem.

I have the same card 4gb in my camera. i always connect the camera using the usb connection as i hate changing the cards as i had a fuji camera that had the pins damaged cause the card reader was damaged, that caused the holes on the card to widen and then cause the camera pins to bend. was more expensive to get the thing fixed than buy a new one.
