OK, due to the success of first one and the apparent demand for more, perhaps there's scope to do a few more and maybe not have them all in Dublin too. So here's what I suggest, if it's the sort of thing you'd be interested in stick yer name in the thread here and your location, plus what you play and how far you'd be prepared to travel to participate. If you've got wheels, can you give someone in your locality a lift, that sort of thing.

Some things to bear in mind though:
    • I am not orgainising all of these. If you know of a room in your area which can be hired cheaply for a few hours, feel free to organise one yourself. I am not the boss of this nor do I want to be.
    • It's not about the playing, it's about the gear so don't worry about your skill level or lack thereof. It's just an opportunity to check out interesting/different gear and have some banter with the folks you know from the forum here.
    • Since it will probably involve hiring a room, there may be a small cost involved. In the case of last Sunday it was €10 each. The cost gets split equally among the participants. We had 7 people there on Sunday and there was more than eough gear and enough people too.
    • Don't put your name down if you're gonna be a spa, whether that means dicking about with someone's gear or if you're not genuinely interested in showing up, especially if one gets orgainsed outside of Dublin where people might have to do a good bit of travelling to get there.
    • By the same token, other people will be playing your stuff, if you're a bit precious about that, maybe this ain't for you

It's a bit of craic, you play some nice guitars and amps and have a laugh and get to meet some real life people. So, with that in mind I'll kick it off...

Doc J, bass & guitar - live in Clonmel, frequently in Dublin, occasionally out west too, sometimes up Louth way, don't mind a bit of travelling so pretty much all of Munster, Leinster and some of Connacht would be doable.

I think that covers it? Any other suggestions or recommendations?

    Next!

    Good idea :)

Dord, bass & guitar - live in Dublin. Pretty much limited to Dublin for the moment due to lack of a car. :(

QuattroSte, Guitar. (bass not worth mentioning :)) Dublin/Wicklow/Kildare area is fine but I'd travel within reason. I can nearly play A minor now so I'm just a good as Boycey :p
Don't mind anyone playing my gear as long as you respect it and play it loud.

That's pretty much the concept of the whole thing :)

This is nothing to do with boards or anything else, you attend at your own risk.

kranog - Guitar / Drums - Dublin area as I have no car!

My studio is in town, I have a seperate sorta chill out room with chairs and couches and enough room to hold maybe 10 people and guitars comfortably.

We can use that free of charge of course as long as it's repected!

Mostly Dubs. Galway, Clonmel and Athboy havent succumbed to the blue tide yet..

Anyway, I wouldnt mind doing one of these some day. I'm a lefty (Bass & guitar) so that might suit some others around here. I prolly should get some more respectable gear though first!

Boycey. 32. Im a Scorpio. Not looking for a relationship. Maybe just some adult fun and...... ****, wrong forum.

Alleged guitarist.Im a two chord whizz kid with no shame and even less talent.
Seriously lads, no one cares if you're the next Eddie Van Halen or a two chord whizz like myself. Whats better than getting to check out cool gear without having to go into a guitar shop full of twats? See y'all at the next one hopefully!!
Dublin area good, big long journeys not so good.

I'm located in Dublin, anywhere in Dublin would be do-able for me, no transport personally (parents ftw). Playing a J-Custom and Ibanez S670fm through a Podxt Live, no amp to show off sadly :(

    For the brewskis, sure. :pac:

Edit: Actually, I've got a much better place, and it's even closer. Bermuda. Sun, fun, hot chix, and you can bring back some of those duty-free illegal cigars. :)

I'm in louth and would be up for it, I have a car so I could give someone a lift no probs, I should be able to book a room in Dundalk if anyone is interested either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,070 ✭✭✭✭Malice

I'm in Galway and would love to meet up with other musical instrument-inclined people :). I play both guitar and bass and I have a car so a reasonable amount of travelling could be done if necessary.

:D I'm picturing a large Town hall somewhere in the middle of Ireland with a sh1t load of people playing different things very loudly on some absolutely sweet gear. I'm there!

Richard, anywhere in Dublin unless someone wants to give me a lift. I can also do Barcelona until the end of August. Guitar and interperative dance. Want to find other Gretsch enthusiasts.

From Longford, based in Dublin (Just so it wont be all dubs!). No automocar, but there are always taxis!

Playing an Ibanez Prestige w/mirrored sharktooths, Mesa/Boogie Dual Recto head and a Marshall 1970A cab. Should have a few more guitars in a few more months if this thing is a bit down the line!
