I saw this in Metro this morning - his mum blames herself as she used to violent with him. Sorry, but there's no way this is her fault. There's only one person to blame, and that's the sick individual himself. Hate when other people blame themselves for other people's actions!

Everyone is responcible for their own actions not matter what the situation.

While its obviously not her fault directly.. i'm sure it didn't do any good.

A persons actions has been proven to be directly related to his childhood environment. I aint sayng its her fault but she did normalize violence for him!

Even Judges have been known to take a different tack with sentencing etc. because of violent backgrounds and family history.
Could be the lawyer speaking out of the mouth of the mother.

I think the judge is worse for blaming drugs and drink. Being off your head is no excuse for doing something like that. I hate when people use drugs as an excuse for being stupid prick. It's what gives drugs a bad name.

Better than the state having to take the fall I suppose.

Regardless of whether the mother did or didn't do something to contribute to his apparent violent behaviour, its good to see a parent attempting to take responsibility.

Indeed. Yo are also responsible for the results of those actions and if you have traumatised someone you need to accept responsibility for possibly affecting what they do.

Yep. If X makes you a stupid prick, don't do X. It seems like a simple rule.

It is just the routine BS sob story aimed at reducing the penalty.

Have a read of the court cases in the regional papers.
