Well i just got a sigma 20-40 ex dg.Im very happy with the lens but heard that alot of people who have had softness issues got the lens calibrated and it cured it.Im having slight softness issues at f/2.8 but its not bothering me.But i decided at i saved around €200 buying an ex display model i might as well get it calibrated so it acts as good as it can.
How long does it take for them to do this and whats peples experience like with hahnel in cork?

    Thanks all

Hahnel repaired accidental damage to my 500mm zoom. They did a super job for me.

i had a nice mail from chris in hahnel recently telling me my mail about my issues with them was a complete fabrication. this was after i'd sent a mail to sigma in japan complaining about them.

MB wanted a lens, and was pretty much told they weren't getting it for him...

I had fierce hassle getting a lens back from them after sending it to be repaired, took several months in the end, with no real excuses from their end.

that's pretty much it; i sent a mail to sigma in japan asking was it policy not to imort certain lenses (four thirds mount in this case), and they replied no, all importers must import the entire range. chris hahnel was copied on the mail, so i replied all and outlined my beef. his first reaction was not one of trying to find out what the issue was, he accused me of lying.

i have the lens now anyway.

They had to wait for some parts; however, once they arrived it was turned around in under 3 days. I was pleased with them.

I had a problem with the Focus on my 10 -20 Sigma & sent it to them under warranty. The lens started to judder under auto-focus & then seized. They found that one of the focus rings was distorted & it must have had an impact at some stage, so it was not covvered by warranty. I then gave them the go ahead to complete the repair. I was told it would be 10 to 14 days until I got the lens back as a part had to come from Japan. I was pleasantly surprised when it came back 4 days later & has been fine ever since. The repair cost was also very reasonable.

Without going back through my emails, I think it was supposed to be a 28 day turnover time, I think it ended at 4/5 months?

    Courier both ways :)

It wasn't a postal problem, it was a 'they haven't fixed it yet' problem.
