    Hi Guys,

Anyone know if Lions tickets are going on general sale? Don't fancy being ripped off by travel agents.

They wont be on general sale...if you have SA contacts you might get somewhere otherwise its either the Agents or travelling and hoping to get tickets over there

For Oz/NZ I'd happily say save yourself a few bob by looking after your own travel. With SA, I'd be happy to pay a reputable travel agent to have everything sorted for me. There's just too much that can go wrong for you there with the levels of crime etc. No offence meant to any S.Africans just going by what you read.

Booked trip - all myself, International and domestic flights, hotels and match tickets for about €2k for 14 days. . .same type on trip with Gullivers is about €4k. . .and I'm using the same hotels as them (at a fraction of the cost).

The internet is a great thing !

Hi, could you let me know how you sourced the tickets ... currently 'in negotioations' to go but can't justify the high package prices ....

I'm also "in negotiations" I'd apprecuate any advice or tips on how you organised your trip.

Booked accomodatio ages ago thru the various hotel websites (Holiday Inn and Hilton) most are booked out now or skyhigh so you may need to look at cheaper options (hostels).

Flights are with KLM (intl) and South African Airways (internal). . .the KLM ones are still there but the internals were booking up when I got mine (about a month ago).

Tickets - not as hard as you might think, used a club connection down there.

All 3 of thiose things were done with the help of google. .. thought it woud be tough but it wasn't (although booking so far out really helped to keep costs down).

I'm on a round the world trip at the moment and have planned to be in Johannesburg at the time of the 3rd test. Package deals are obviously no use to me so I'm only interested in the ticket. I asked around with all my rugby contacts in Ireland including a friend who works for the Leinster branch but I haven't heard anything back yet. It would be really nice to get a ticket sorted before I get to South Africa. I've seen sites like this offering tickets but not really sure how legit it is. Anyone know what the actual face value is for tickets?

Gullivers has released a new package which is just the match ticket and entrance to some pre-match bar. Not cheap at 250 pounds but I went for it anyway as it was my only way of getting a guaranteed match ticket.
    Check it out here
