    Hi,
Just wondering if it possible to change the eircom modem that comes with an account to something which would offer greater range? What would I need to look for? Is it a router/modem with ADSL connectivity as in Belkin N1 Vision Modem Router ?

    Thanks

Yes, it is possible to change the router. It will need to be a combined modem/router (sometimes referred to as a ADSL router)

Bear in mind that the performance of any router in any particular situation is very difficult to predict. You only have to read reviews to see how performance even among the 'latest and greatest' can vary.

IF you are thinking of a particular model try and do some research on it and look for reviews on the net - dont just buy an 'n' router because its an 'n'.

www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk has lots of user reviews.

Also to get the full benefits of an 'n' router you will need a matching card for the pc or laptop.
