Just set up IMAP Gmail on my mobile. I am with O2 with a 2600 classic handset.

Anyone know is this service free? I've set it to download headers only. Am I able to receive images etc?

Any other tips to set it up efficiently and properly?

    Thanks

    Pete

Google won't charge you, O2 will. Have you tried the official Gmal java app?

Downloaded that. Seems best for viewing attachments but not great for browsing through emails. Think the standard email system on the phone is best for reading text emails.

I bought a 750MB download bundle for €7.50 per month. Anyone know how I can check how many MB I've used or have left? I looked at my "details since last bill"
and my usage hasn't come up. Just wanna get an idea of how much I'm using when checking mail.

DOH! Says "Service not available". Not sure if it's been set up for these new tariffs yet

*111# seems to get info on minutes, texts and data left.

It says I have 250MB left. Either I heard wrong from the salesperson (not 750MB) or I've used 500MB which I doubt just downloading text emails.

Anyone know how much usage they would use just downloading and sending text emails?

    Is there an upload limit?

I've found it the other way round, great for reading and searching through the emails and composing and sending them as it has access to the gmail address boook as well. I generally ignore the attachments though, but don't always like way that gmail reformats any to display in it;s own viewer and makes it tricky to grab the actual real file for download.

Interesting. I'll try use the gmail editor to compose more emails. I also have my important email addresses saved to my phone contacts so the choice it gives me is limited but I don't have lots of extra useless email addresses. I also found the gmail editor a bit slow to write and scroll through emails.

Any other good Nokia java applications I should get? At the moment I'm using my mobile to connect my computer to the internet but thats only because my home network is currently down. My limit is 250 MB per month (not 750MB as I previously thought) and I don't think I'll use anywhere near that on the gmail email downloading. Would be interested in testing out a few more applications if anyone knows of any.
