Planning application and drawing details

I'm in the process of getting plans for an extensive attic conversion & extension drawn up for planning permission. How detailed do the drawings need to be at this stage? Do the measurements have to be 100% accurate? Do I need to give details of roof tiles, velux sizes, external finishings, etc? The ridge height is to be altered, where do I mention this?

    As always any help/advice appreciated.

The drawings you lodge for planning need to accurately reflect the works you propose to carry out. There is a certain amount of information which is necessary on any planning application in order to get it validated. Your agent will be familiar with this standard and it is quite detailed.

Your dimensions should be accurate (within reason), and yes you do need to specify the information you mention where it directly affects the application eg if the attic conversion is to contain a habitable room you will need to specify the correct size of Velux for escape purposes etc. I would presume that as its an extension most finishes will be 'to match existing'.

You should specify the change in ridge height on your drawings and on your public notices (newspaper and site notice) and planning application form.
