Does anyone know if you need a premisies to be eligible to sell alcohol here?

Also, is there a hefty fee to get a licence?

    Thanks

I think the new Intoxicating Liquor Act stops off licences from making deliveries (as well as preventing anyone in Ireland for having any kind of craic), so this would mean that you certainly need a premises to sell alcohol, whether you needed one originally or not

This thread would be more suited to Legal Discussion

Do you mean to sell it to the general public? Carry out or drink on the premises? If you mean to sell alcohol like a pub you will need a licence, last I heard they were selling for 160k or so. Same applys for off licenses but you can get a wine licence, not sure whats involved in getting it though.

Yeh basically i just mean could anyone decide to buy alcohol from abroad and start selling to the general public from anywhere (like the back of a car..sounds dodgy!) to make a profit. Im starting to think its illegal because im sure we'd see that sort of thing all over the place if it was easy to do.

Yeah, it breaks down like this: it's legal to buy it, it's legal to own it and, if you're the proprietor of alcohol, it's legal to sell it. It's legal to carry it, which doesn't really matter 'cause -- get a load of this -- if the cops stop you, it's illegal for them to search you.

They sound like odd laws.. this is all fairly complicated. It would be a nice way to earn some cash on the side though!
