Got the new Beck album last week and i think its fantastic and i dont use that word lightly! Then again im very very biased as im a huge fan. The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of cat power. She guests on two songs and i had heard about that before i got the album but she has a small part to play. She's hidden in the background doing backing vocals. I had hoped for a duet or something.

Anywho i'd like the opinions of anyone who has bought, heard, borrowed, stolen/downloaded the album.

Oh and i think chemtrails is one of Beck's best ever songs

It's a great album. Couldn't be done by anybody but Beck, though!
I loved Sea Change, but I reckon this might pip it to the top with a good few more listens.

Chemtrails is good. Reminds me of the Beach Boys at the start. Soul of a Man is probably my favourite, though.

Saw him live with Radiohead n Malahide last year. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Great set list and great stage show!

it hasn't really blown me away - it is good though.

I loved Beck's first 2 albums (well, Mellow Gold and Odelay, I know he had earlier indie releases). His albums since then have all had great songs on them, but none of them have been consistently good. He is prolific though, and you never have to wait too long for the next one.

Ye i agree a lot of his albums arent that consistent especially the last two. I really like The Information but it has some songs on it that just really get my goat in a what the hell was he thinking kind of way.

Odelay and Sea Change are my favorites and possibly Modern Guilt but if i was really pushed to pick one it would have to be Odelay. It makes me grin from start to finish.

I saw him supporting Radiohead too :D
The puppets in the background is still the coolest thing i've ever seen at a gig

His new album is very good alright; I think working with Dangermouse really focused his songs this time around! Really like Gamma Ray and chemtrails but as a whole album its class!!
